odd bits of dialogue

“People don’t always follow their hearts” he said.
“What did you do?” she asked.
“I guess I did what most do” he said, rather nonchalant.
“I survived. I did what was expected of me. And everyone was happy”
“Everyone except for you?” she said.

interesting question. i cant seem to tell the difference at the moment between real life and my fantasy of writing/revealing characters. lol..

The great tragedy is that we sacrifice the 'self' so often we don't even notice its unnatural.
