uSe or Abuse?

I wonder. I wonder at what point people might realise that they’re in an abusive relationship. I wonder at what point they can know that it is abuse. I also wonder how much people are willing to put up with. And why?

personal decisions can never be disputed
if u were in such a relationship and your best friend who loves u the most in the world told u that it's either her or him because she cant take seeing you hurt, you would most probably choose him. i've seen this happen
and u would live with that decision because it was all you knew at that point
so dear shafs, caring too much is not always advisable
allow people to burn and one day they will carry those burns as a reminder of lessons learnt

I know so many people in abusive relationships, but they refuse to see the truth. Maybe they dont want to be alone, maybe they dont want to leave the comforts of the relationship, maybe they're just so used to it that they fail to recognise the signs.

Sad really. And abuse comes in various forms...Physical, Emotional, Mental, Verbal...

@ nooj :((( sigh

@ azra - true... exists at so many levels... and in some more insiduous forms than the eye can see...

Well..the realisation that one is being abused, only comes with having been burnt really badly...so much so that its unbearable....when our threshold level is such that we continue to bear the abuse, because we don't know better, we'll just stay stuck in that space.... something drastic has to happen in order to give us a wakeup call. I have fortunately developed a "bullshit detector" antennae... if only one could package something like this and sell it...would save a lot of people a whole lot of grief... : )

if u could bottle n sell it, u'd be very RICH and super famous :P

but on a more serious note...
abuse is something we often self-inflict as choice.. and other times we get so caught up in the cycle of justification for bad behaviour that the definition gets blurred...
